Glimpse of Events:
Mr. Thomas R. Carter visited Maahi Milk Producer Company Limited on 16th August 2019. Mr. Carter, a learned professional of farmer organizations- cooperatives as well as producer companies, had long association with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). He had worked with NDDB as Senior Advisor, on deputation from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He has provided support in development of mass education programs for dairy farmers, institutional development programs and programs for Indian cooperative dairy and oilseed industries. He has played an important role in development of the concept and institutional arrangement of Milk Producer Companies in India.
Mr. Carter visited Maahi Milk Producer Company Limited in accompany with Mr. Sriram Singh, Executive Director, NDS. During the visit he has interacted with the Board of Directors, CE & Dy CE, HODs, Field functionaries and members.
The Board of Directors briefed him about various aspects of governance and vision of the company. Mr. Carter was very much impressed with governance at the company and relationship between the board and executives.
The CE has presented the statics of progress made by the company since inception and Mr. Carter was impressed with growth of the company in the short span.
Taking into account the animal husbandry practices of Saurashtra- Kutch and water scarcity conditions, Mr. Carter has made a valuable suggestion that by just insuring sufficient and timely availability of drinking water, productivity of the animals can be increased.
The officers and field staff appraised him about how MMPCL evolved to a system driven organization since inception and how the company has steadily making inroads both among milk producers and consumers leading to sizable growth on all the fronts despite being placed in a highly competitive environment.
He has visited Bhadra Milk Pooling Point of Jamnagar district, where he has observed the milk collection process, automation at MPPs and interacted with Sahayak and members.
